about us

Our goal is to find a safe and loving home for every adoptable cat and kitten that finds its way to us.

Coastal Cat Rescue is a foster-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in early 2024. It is led by a board of directors with extensive experience in feline rescue. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome stray and unwanted cats in the South Shore and Greater Boston areas of Massachusetts. Every animal in our care receives the love, compassion and medical care they need to thrive until they find their forever home.

Our goal is to create a community where every cat has a loving and permanent home while working to reduce the population of stray and unwanted felines through spaying, neutering, and education.

Every member of the organization is a volunteer.  This ensures that all donations and adoption fees directly benefit the cats in our care.

We have a License to Operate a Rescue Organization issued by the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources in accordance with the Shelter and Rescue Regulations 330 CMR 30.03 and 30.04. Our license number is 0399.

Coastal Cat Rescue

our approach

Our organization is a team of animal lovers that work tirelessly to help unhomed cats find forever homes.  Our model utilizes foster homes rather than a shelter environment.

It is our belief that shelters can be stressful for animals.  Not every animal presents its true personality in an institutional setting.  Since it is our desire to make the best matches possible between adopter and pet, our foster families get to know the animals in a home setting and will work with the adoption coordinator to make sure there is as good a fit as possible.  In this way we attempt to minimize returns due to an animal/adopter mismatch.

We know we cannot do this on our own.  In addition to the board of directors and our dedicated volunteers, we also enlisted the help and resources of other local rescue groups, trap-neuter/spay-return (“TNR”) groups, spay/neuter clinics, veterinarians, and other community advocates.
